The t-shirt is a play on words that represents both the day-to-day, sometimes minute-to-minute, highs and lows that is life with T1D, but also transcends that reality to represent the highs and lows of life.
I want to be known as a friend that can be counted on; an athlete that pushes her limits to be the best she can be on that particular day; an athlete with T1D that uses any opportunity afforded to her to inspire and represent for others with T1D; a human who is greater than both the highs and the lows that are thrown at her; and an inspiration to those trying to rise above the highs and lows in their own lives.
I am Greater than my Highs and Lows.
With or without T1D.
-Katie Bone; Athlete, Climber; Ninja Warrior; Human just doing her best to thrive in spite of T1D
The shirt is definitely a collaboration between Katie and I working to create a compilation of who she is and how she would like to be portrayed. While diabetes is a part of her identity, it doesn't define her. She is bigger and tougher than that one aspect. This is not to say she is ashamed of diabetes. On the contrary, she wears the sign of diabetes on her sleeve (literally), and shows that limitations are meant to be broken.
-Aaron Stromberg, Artist & Katie's climbing coach since she was 8-years-old
Aaron Strömberg is an Albuquerque artist, and competitive rock-climbing coach for N.M. Mojo. He graduated with honors from the University of New Mexico. Since graduating Aaron has been busy creating designs and murals for local organizations around the southwest. When he is not working on an art project you can find Aaron climbing with his team, hiking in the Sandias with his wife and dogs, or skateboarding with his longtime friends.
THANK YOU for your interest and support! We have been blown away and humbled by the response.
PLEASE be patient with us as we are fulfilling orders in between travel, competing, and rehab from Katie's knee surgery.
Thank you for understanding!
